Sarah Ober (aka Sober)

If you haven't check out her blog 'Many Adventures of Sarah' please do. She'll keep you on your toes! 

Sober has been a wonderful friend for the past 6-7 years. Her love and support has given me drive to do better at everything I do. Even though she is 6 years younger than me, I look up to her and respect her fully. One of my favorite things about Sober are the goals that she makes, small and large. Less than a year ago Sober brought up her interests in moving to Germany for a year. Well, this morning she boarded the plane to do just that. I'm going to miss my friend but at the same time I'm so proud that she is 'Making it Happen'! 

Here are a few photographs I made of Sober this past year after finding out she loves being in front of the camera.

This was one of the most special moments I've been a part of in years. Music and Art are everything to me. These amazing people and many more who weren't in the studio that night sure do add an extra bonus and make this creative endeavor so worth it. Thank you all for being in my life.

Two Beautiful Women - Continued

These are photographs made during out last re-location down in the Linen District. By this time it had been a little over an hour into our shoot. Everyone was very comfortable and having a lot of fun. All I can say about this shoot is thank God I'm a photographer because I wouldn't miss this for the world! Thank you two for having such great energy. You and people like you make my job absolutely amazing!

Two Beautiful Women

Last month I had the great pleasure to work, again, with the most amazing Sarah Ober and our new friend Nicole Velasquez. What a perfect pair for this shoot. We went in only knowing the location and wardrobe but didn't plan much for the shoot. I was lucky enough to arrive at Sarah's house to help the ladies finalize their outfits and also, most importantly I got to watch them interact! The pre-shoot 'organization' if you will was one hell of a good time. Sarah and Nicole have a very fun lovin' relationship. They're both easy going but highly intelligent. They were completely comfortable around each other, almost like they'd known each other their whole lives. After registering this important information we headed toward our location, took the camera out and shot shot shot!!! Thank both of you ladies for the fun experience.

New Creations!

Wow, when I knew I hit the technology overload stage about a month ago I had no idea when I'd be back... Well, I'm back! I have not stepped away from creating during my technology break, I have increased the creations by the handful!!! I plan to catch you up on the most resent photo shoots, paintings, and or what ever else I find that's worth showing.

These photographs were made with Canon G11. My buddies Pro Point and Shoot that I'm so excited to be able to work with. As you can tell I pushed the limit and more than likely crushed the DONT'S in photography editing... I'm sure I've said it before though... It never hurts to break a few rules!

Macro Attempt #1

While RMSP Weekends were in town during March 2010 I was lucky enough to see Tony Rizzuto, David Marx and Eileen Rafferty. Thank you three for being you, you're constantly in my mind.

Last spring I traveled 8 hours to RMSP Weekends in Bozeman and ended up taking all of my classes from Tony. His personality and teaching style was one of the biggest reasons I decided to go to RMSP to spend the summer of 2009. Tony has a niche for photographing children but also loves macro photography. Some of my favorite macro photographs are definitely made by Tony. After seeing a few of his examples in his introductory slideshow I knew I had to try it. The only problem was I didn't have a 'true' macro lens and if you know me I do not like to do anything half assed so I never attempted it.

Over the winter Tony decided he was going to go back to using Nikon and put all of his Canon equipment up for sale. Included in that sale were his macro rings... I knew I had to have them as I didn't feel comfortable throwing down hundreds of dollars on a macro lens just in case I didn't take to that genre of photography. A week after talking to Tony about his macro rings they showed up on my doorstep and I was instantly flooded with excitement!

I'm not sure how far I'll get into macro but after my first attempt I knew that this could turn out to be quite the hobby. While I was photographing this late bloom Christmas Cactus I became one with the plant. I felt like I was one of the little yellow spots of pollen that comfortably held onto the vibrant pink pistil. As my eyes moved around the plant and it's beautiful flowers I noticed the curves, the texture, the color and the unique soft design. This first attempt at photographing macro has changed the way I see small detail forever. I can't wait to see what photographs I will be making after I get to know the equipment a little better!

Bitch & State Of

I had the great pleasure to watch and listen to Bitch and the State Of at the Visual Arts Collective a few days ago. I knew that Bitch would be absolutely amazing but I didn't think she would have that huge of an effect on me. She did! She made me want to push my music photography skills to a new level! Thank you Bitch for everything that you are and what you stand for. The State Of knocked my socks off as well! You're awesome as the two person band that you are and also as Bitch's backup band. Here are a few diptych's I made of the beautiful and talented women I was very lucky to be a part of in April 2010. 

Diptych's & Triptych's

I've always been a big fan of collage type artwork... Especially well thought out diptych's and triptych's! I don't think they're actually classified as collage but what the hey:) Here are a few of my new works. So far I'm loving the first and second but think the third might be a stretch. I figured it would be worth a try so I went with it. What are your thoughts?
